Doug de Vries is one of Australia's foremost guitarists and a significant composer for the guitar, excelling in many musical genres, from jazz to choro, tango and bossa nova. He is considered Australia's leading exponent of Brazilian guitar repertoire and has produced more than a dozen recordings including a solo album of original works and classic Brazilian repertoire, 'DDV Solo' in addition to a recent Melbourne choro sextet recording and a new collaboration '8 com (nocturnes)' with Rio master composer/guitarist Mauricio Carrilho.
Doug is particularly noted for his sophisticated accompaniments, deep knowledge, and daring improvisations whether in solo or group settings.
